The Red Rock Institute was founded on the principle that environmental conflicts cannot be resolved without a fundamental understanding of the stakeholders and the resources. This is best accomplished by experiencing the land and the issues first-hand.

The Institute offers summer classes focusing on environmental and social issues in the American West. Each class includes a field component that takes students to the contested areas of Utah, providing each student with an excellent learning experience while traveling to some of the most scenic landscapes on earth.

"What better way to learn about public lands than by hiking through national parks, camping on public lands, and meeting with the people who actually work on public policy issues - the Red Rock Institute is the ideal classroom to learn about environmental politics!"

Chris Peterson
MPA student
University of Utah

Summer 2007 will include courses in Public Lands Management and Western Environmental History, taking place almost entirely in the field. The courses will run from July 9th thru 21st.

Don't delay in learning more; 2007 promises to be the experience of a lifetime!
